Adj cam pulleys & TOO's opinion

I awhile back I was asking if I should get adj. cam pulleys and the majority opinions here are "not with supercharged engines.."

Has any one here use adj. cam pulley with a JRSC? Any noticable perf. gains? Thx. John

I got almost no gain with my car. But I will be trying to tune it more since I have the header now.

Who told you not to get cam gears? I don't know one person with a supercharged GS-R who has adjustable cam gears who didn't gain at least 8 wheel hp once tuned. Maybe you're talking about cams and not gears?

I think tuned gears net close to +10 hp but of all the cam shafts that JR tested, the BEST set showed a lost of nearly 10 hp.

I can't speak for the Type R guys but I'm pretty sure that cam gears on the SC'd GS-R's are a good idea (if 10hp is worth the price including install and tuning).

I think gears do yield decent power but at the price of dyno time...which is pretty expensive at least where I live. I've got the BTC and it's nice but, in my opinion, far from an amazing device. It does restore off-boost drivability but if you're looking for power gain...I doubt the BTC will give much in the way of 1/4 mile times or dyno hp figures.

some get the 10hp by advancing the timing on the intake cam, woops!
